Heidi + Joe | Intimate Wedding at McCrory Gardens in Brookings, SD
Heidi + Joe’s wedding day felt like a reflection of who they are. Thoughtful, playful, and deeply connected. On a warm September day, they were married in the Cottage Gardens at McCrory Gardens in Brookings, surrounded by beauty, sunlight, and the people closest to them.
With no wedding party, the day remained calm and intentional. Every moment felt unrushed, allowing space for connection and presence. Heidi wore a pearl necklace that had been in her family for generations, a quiet heirloom detail that carried so considerableness into the day. Their invitations featured animated trading card versions of themselves, setting the tone for a celebration that was both meaningful and joy filled.
Following the ceremony and family photos, we spent nearly two hours exploring the gardens together for bride and groom portraits. The light was gentle and generous, moving across the gardens in a way that felt almost choreographed. Every turn offered something new, and the gardens gave us endless opportunities to slow down and simply let moments unfold.
Their reception was an intimate dinner at a restaurant, with plated meals and a simple cake cutting. During portraits, two bunnies wandered over, a moment that felt perfectly aligned with their vintage bride and groom bunny cake topper. It was playful, unexpected, and so fitting.
Throughout the day, what stood out most was the way Heidi and Joe looked at each other. The quiet smiles. The laughter between frames. The ease that comes from being completely at home with someone.
