Madeline + Jake’s Engagement at Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum | Sioux Falls, SD

Some sessions feel like coming home. Madeline + Jake’s engagement at the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum had that kind of warmth—familiar faces, steady laughter, and the quiet joy of two best friends turning toward a shared future.

We’ve known them since middle school, so photographing this season felt less like “posing” and more like celebrating. There’s a personal thread woven in, too: Madeline’s aunt was Corbyn’s third-grade teacher, a constant encouragement during a trying time that shaped who he is today. Getting to document Madeline + Jake with that legacy of kindness in the backdrop meant a lot to us.

They’ve recently moved to Arizona, but the Arboretum’s trails, trees, and soft light welcomed them back like an old friend. We wandered the paths, let the wind play with hair and jacket edges, and leaned into images that feel relaxed, true, and presence-filled—photos that will look timeless years from now.

As South Dakota wedding photographers, we love when a location carries memory. This place did. And watching Madeline + Jake settle into each other—smiles first, then the easy quiet—was a reminder of why we do this: to preserve love as testimony, not just as a checklist of poses.

Madeline + Jake, we’re cheering you on in this season and beyond. Your love already feels like home.

Your wedding day is more than a celebration—it’s a testimony. We’d be honored to capture it with presence, love, and grace. Explore more stories from couples like you, or connect with us to begin your own.

Photographing presence, guided by grace.
